Paul

A former Ironman, Paul is no stranger to dialing in his nutrition and training! Over the month of his nutrition coaching program, Paul consistently logged his food intake and followed his meal plan and successfully lost 5 inches, 4.8lbs and dropped 2.8% body fat!

“It was motivational information for me, and I really did learn some key things. Such information as the macro balance, the type of NATURAL sugar/carbs to consume and when, the frequency of eating, along with correct portion sizes. It all sounds like the typical information and so easy, but honestly, I wouldn’t have actually done and followed the steps if I didn’t have the plan. Also, having the measurements from the InBody machine is also key as I would have continued to focus on the weight and been skeptical and disgruntled had I not seen the drop in fat %. I would have then spiraled, and gave up. Thank you”.

1. Why did you decide to join the Fit For Fall Challenge?

The reason I joined the nutrition challenge was to remember to eat properly. I was already doing meal preps but was forgetting all the little things like snacks and water. This was a great refresher to get my weight back on track.

2. What have you gained/ learned from taking the Challenge?

The things I’ve gained was the importance of what every meal does for me. I started to eat breakfast again and having snacks to fuel me during the day so I don’t binge eat at the end of everyday.

3. What would you say to someone considering doing a Challenge or Nutrition Program at CFNAC?

Anyone thinking of joining should definitely do it as it creates accountability and gives you different ideals of meals/snacks that you may not have ever thought of. It’s also a great way to kick start a healthy lifestyle. This is not a diet fad it’s a lifestyle and most of all it’s simple and it WORKS!!!! Thanks for your support and encouragement throughout the last 6 weeks.

1. Why did you join the Spring Into Summer Nutrition Challenge?

To make myself a priority, to learn how to fuel my body better to lean out & achieve gymnastics goals.

2. What did you gain/ learn from doing the Challenge?

Leaned out more than I ever expected in 6 weeks. I’ve made myself a priority, gained a new healthier way of eating, learned the value of meal prepping. Biggest gain, a healthier, sustainable nutrition plan, that gives me more time with my kids & husband.

3. What would you say to someone considering doing a Challenge or Nutrition Program at CFNAC?

vDo it! But it will only work if you honestly commit yourself to it. It won’t work if you half ass it, lie about following it or cheat here and there, commit yourself fully and completely and you will get incredible results. Open yourself up to it and embrace it, try new foods, trust the process and the people leading you through it. You won’t regret it.

1. Why did you decide to join the Fit For Fall Challenge?

I joined the challenge primarily because even though I’ve always eaten on the healthier side and done regular exercise, I wasn’t seeing any real long term results in my body composition. Even after 6 weeks at CrossFit, I felt stronger but like my waistline didn’t change lol. But now after 6 weeks of both CrossFit and nutritional coaching, the results are phenomenal. And even more than my physical gains, my mental and emotional gains are immeasurable. I feel like myself again, I’m able to manage stress better, my confidence is back and I feel healthy in my body.

2. What have you gained/ learned from taking the Challenge?

It might seem odd but for me the biggest gain was in the area of goal setting. Creating measurable goals and setting action steps accordingly for me to succeed was essential. Breaking it down into each step, I was able to identify barriers to my success and plan actions to overcome these. Like not just cooking the broccoli and the squash for meal prep but actually measuring out the portions in advance and packing them accordingly. It also really helped me to keep motivated when I knew I had healthy food options ready in advance.

I’m also taking away the importance of properly eating before and after a workout. This whole concept was new to me! Now I eat before every workout even if it’s only a couple mouthfuls of applesauce and some nuts. And even on those days when the WOD is insane, I rarely have muscle soreness. Drinking recovery protein, keeping hydrated and getting good sleep has made all the difference. I will never workout empty again!!

3. What would you say to someone considering doing a Challenge or Nutrition Program at CFNAC?

The 6 week nutritional challenge pushed me hard on all levels, but with the CFNAC community you are not doing any of this alone. The coaches, your peers, the other staff, and your personal peeps are all there cheering you on every step of the way.

1. Why did you decide to sign up for Nutrition Coaching?

I decided to sign up for the nutrition coaching because I gained just over 60lbs with my second pregnancy and needed guidance to lose the weight. My kids are my world and I want to be the best version of me for them. That goes beyond how I parent my kids but also how I maintain a healthy lifestyle. I want my family to establish healthy eating habits and I think the younger they learn this the better.

2. What have you gained/ learned? I have gained a better understanding on portion control. I have learned how to make healthier food choices, meal prepping is a huge factor to help you succeed with this. Even though life gets crazy busy especially with kids, this is still something I can maintain and is totally doable.

3. What would you say to someone considering doing a Challenge or Nutrition Program at CFNAC? I would tell someone considering doing a challenge or nutrition program to definitely do it! I love that this wasn’t a diet I was following because as we all know you can’t sustain a diet and sustainability is key. This is something I can follow for the rest of my life.
