An Easy Bedtime Routine for Better Rest and Recovery
Hey there, Crossfit Newmarket Central family! We know you work hard in every WOD so let’s talk about how to unwind at night for the best recovery possible. Creating a relaxing bedtime routine is super simple and can help you fall asleep faster and rest better. Ready to get started?
Set a Bedtime and Stick to It
Our bodies love routines. So, setting a regular bedtime — and sticking to it — can help signal to your brain that it’s time to wind down and get some ZZZs. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.
Turn Off the Tech
Yes, we know, it’s tough. But screens – from your TV, computer, tablet or phone – can mess with your sleep. The light they give off can trick your brain into thinking it’s still daytime. So, try turning off your devices at least an hour before bed. You can read, listen to calming music or just chill.
Warm Shower or Bath
A warm bath or shower before bed can be just what you need to relax your muscles and soothe your mind. The rise and then drop in body temperature can also help you feel sleepy. Soak for about 20 minutes and then off to bed you go!
Quiet, Dark and Cool Bedroom
Consider your bedroom as your sleep haven. Keep it quiet, dark, and cool. You can use earplugs, a sleep mask or an air conditioner to help create a sleep-friendly environment.
A good night’s sleep is as essential for your overall health and fitness as a good workout. Try these tips tonight and wake up refreshed and ready for your next workout!
